Services

Student services

Maastricht University’s Student Services Centre (SSC) helps students with a wide range of issues related to studying and student life. This includes topics such as application, registration, tuition fees and diploma recognition, but you can also contact the SSC for legal advice on a study related issue, career advice or advice from a psychologist. In addition to providing students with help, the SSC supports several organisations that organise extracurricular activities, such as the INKOM, the sports council MUSST and Studium Generale.

Housing services

You can arrange accommodation with Maastrichthousing. The faculty does not act as an intermediary, so you need to make your own reservation.

Maastrichthousing is a cooperation between two student housing organizations: Guesthouse UM and the Foundation for Student Housing in Maastricht. It’s their shared goal to service housing for students, employees and guests from Maastricht University, Hoge School Zuyd and Jan van Eijck Academie.

Library services

The University Library helps students and researchers to realise their academic objectives. At the library you will find a modern study and research environment with many possibilities for studying individually or in a group. We have a large collection scientific sources that you can consult both online and physically.

ICT services

The ICT Service Centre (ICTS) is one of 5 service centres at Maastricht University (UM) that have been set up to provide specific services within the organization. ICTS provides services in the areas of Information and Communication Technology.

  • maintaining servers and applications
  • making software available
  • supporting end users
  • coordinating ICT projects
  • offering ICT advice

Medical services

Everyone aged 18 years or older who lives or works in the Netherlands must have health insurance. This is a legal requirement that also applies to students. If you are not insured, the Zorginstituut Nederland (Dutch National Health Care Institute) can fine you.

Students insured in the Netherlands can get a ‘health care benefit’, this is a contribution towards the health insurance costs.

Student Life

Campus life

The monumental UM Campus Brussels' historical building is located in a popular Brussels residential area near Montgomery, well known for the large amount of embassies and representations in the immediate surroundings.

From a practical perspective, the Campus is ideally situated between central metro and bus stops Merode and Montgomery and is only a few minutes away from the European institutions and the city centre by both car and public transport.

Sports facilities

At UM SPORTS you can take part in group classes, training sessions or walk-in activities in a wide range of sports. You can also work on your health and relaxation in the gym. Are you looking for team spirit and competition? Then you should become a member of a student sports association.
