Services
Student services
It's exciting, but not easy to start your studies in a different country! In order to make your transition to student life easier, we recommend that new international students take part in our Buddy Programme, run by the International Office.
Housing services
Many students choose to share accommodation with other German and international students in a public or private hall of residence.
A range of rooms and flats can also be rented from private landlords in Fulda. If you're not sure how to start looking for your new home, you'll find the following information on where to find adverts and how to understand the terms used in them useful.
Library services
The University has two libraries in Fulda. One is located on campus, the other in the city, on Heinrich von Bibra Platz. If you need books to help you with your teaching and research work, please ask our library service. Some books have to be ordered and not all of them are available in English.
Medical services
All students must have health insurance coverage in Germany.
- If you come from an EU country, your home country health insurance coverage may be valid in Germany.
- If you come from a country outside the European Union, you must purchase compulsory medical insurance in Germany to cover the duration of your studies at Fulda University. The monthly fee is approx €90.
Student Life
Campus life
With approximately 70,000 inhabitants, Fulda is one of Germany’s smaller cities. But its advantages include a high quality of life, easy accessibility, a safe public environment and affordable living costs. What’s more, its central location and direct connections to train, bus and motorway networks make Fulda an ideal base for exploring the rest of Germany.
Student clubs
We recommend that you start getting involved in university and community life as soon as you arrive in Fulda – it's the best way to make new friends, explore new activities and practise your German.
