Services
Student services
- Study guidance and counselling are given by Student Services, degree programmes and departments.
- Each student on a master’s or bachelor’s degree programme is appointed a teacher tutor. The main goal of tutoring is to ensure that studies progress as planned. A tutor supervises and guides a student in carrying out and planning studies in a goal-oriented way. A tutor also monitors the progress of studies so that, should any problems arise, they can be addressed at an early stage.
- Student tutors are older students who are involved in new students’ orientation to the university and to studies.
Housing services
Rental housing is mainly available on the private housing market. Available housing is advertised online (various rental apartment forums), in newspapers and through agents. Finding housing can be time-consuming as advertisements are often in Finnish.A minimum rental period is usually 12 months for a private market apartment. This means that you are not allowed to terminate the rental agreement during the first year.Degree students at Aalto University are, for the most part, responsible for arranging their own accommodation. In order to apply for student housing in the Helsinki region, fill in the application forms directly on the webpage of HOAS and/or AYY.
