Services

Student services

The International Office is the first place to visit upon your arrival to Dalarna University. We are here to offer support and assistance for incoming and outgoing exchange students.

Our office also assists students from our partner universities as well as all students who are interested in taking part in exchange studies at our partner universities in other countries.

You are welcome to visit Student Counselling Services whenever you need someone to talk to about your studies specifically or simply life in general. Visits are free of charge, and all conversations are confidential. You can visit us on campus, online or by telephone.

Housing services

Dalarna University works closely with two local housing companies: KopparStaden in Falun and Stora Tunabyggen in Borlänge. Most of the apartments that these companies rent out are located within a 30-minute walking distance from the respective campus.

You can book student accommodation once you have received a letter of acceptance (exchange students) or an admission letter (freemover students) from Dalarna University.

Library services

Students and staff at Dalarna University can use their keycards to borrow items at the library's self-service. You can also renew loans and reserve books using your user account. Our loan period is 21 days and all messages regarding your library account are sent to your university email address.

International students are also covered by Student IN insurancethat provides allregisteredinternational students with the same coverage.

The insurance provides registered international students coverage for medical expenses. It includes a certain level of accident coverage and applies 24-hours a day in Sweden.

Student Life

Campus life

  • Campus Borlänge is located a few minutes from the town centre of Borlänge, close to the Borlänge Science Park, Framtidsdalen, where some 3 500 people are employed. Together, these institutions make for a creative and industrious hub. Also neighbouring the campus is the indoor shopping centre Kupolen.
  • Campus Falun is located just outside the town centre in an area called Lugnet. Here, sporting opportunities and nature are immediately accessible: deep forests with ski trails and walks can be found beside impressive and modern sporting facilities with a hockey arena, swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis courts - indeed facilities to suit all sporting interests.

Sports facilities

About a 20-minute walk (1.5 kilometres) from central Falun sits Campus Falun, home to the School of Humanities and Media Studies and the School of Education, Health and Social Studies. It is close to the Lugnet Nature Reserve and a wide range of sporting facilities including ski trails and walking trails, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, and indoor and outdoor tennis facilities.

Student clubs

Dalarna Student Union has a number of key functions: looking out for student social welfare; organizing activities and events; responding to questions about education; and networking with business and industry.

Members of the Student Union soon get to know other students through involvement in activities. They receive the Mecenat Card, the Swedish national discount card for students: with it, students receive discounts in many shops and businesses, as well as on trains and buses.

Accreditation

Dalarna University is accredited through the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education.
