Services
Student services
Coming to the Netherlands from abroad can of course be a big step for many international students. If you are arriving from outside of the Netherlands, we aim to make the transition for you as smooth as possible, and we have therefore established a network of host families (Friends of Saxion International Students) who are on hand to help you settle into life in the Netherlands. We also have a Buddy programme, whereby current students can help guide you through your initial period of studying at Saxion.
Housing services
Since it is quite difficult to find suitable housing by yourself, Saxion arranges accommodation for all of our first year international students from outside EU/EEA in Deventer, Apeldoorn and Enschede.
In all three cities we have contracts with the local student housing associations. They provide Saxion with accommodation with rooms which may vary in size. The rooms are all single rooms and furnished with basic facilities like bed, desk, chair and cupboard. All accommodations have an internet connection. The bathroom, toilet and kitchen need to be shared with other international Saxion students, max. 6 students share common facilities.
Library services
All campuses are equipped with computerrooms, library facilities and restaurants.
ICT services
Wireless internet is available throughout the campuses enabling you to bring your laptop and work, study, search and check your email wherever you want.
Medical services
Dutch law requires every citizen to be insured for at least Health Care and Liability. European students (both exchange and regular) can take out their own Health Care insurance and are only obliged to take the Liability Insurance arranged by Saxion. Non-European students, who need a visa and residence permit, will be insured by Saxion for both Health Care and Liability.
Student Life
Campus life
Saxion University of Applied Sciences has three campuses in the East of the Netherlands - one campus in each of the three Dutch cities of Deventer, Enschede and Apeldoorn. Thanks to the important contribution of agriculture to the local economy, this region is renowned for its beautiful countryside and fairly relaxed pace of life. However, all four Saxion locations have good public transport facilities, meaning that the hustle and bustle of the major cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague is no more than 1½ hours away.
Student clubs
Saxion has a number of student associations. They aim to make your stay within the university as attractive as possible. Student associations emphasize fun and extra-curricular activities. Associations are not linked to particular courses. You can find more detailed info mation about the student associations on their websites and Facebook pages.
