Student services
- There are different sections in the Office of Student Affairs, each providing professional services in their respective areas.
- They are the Career Planning and Development Centre, Learning and Cultural Enhancement Section, Student Development and Resources Section and Wellness and Counselling Centre.
- There is also a Student Services Centre, serving as a centralized enquiry and information centre.
Housing services
All undergraduate students of CUHK are given the opportunity to stay in student hostels for at least one year during their studies. Allocation of accommodation takes into consideration a student's travelling time to studies, his/her home environment and participation in student activities.
Priority is given to specific groups of students including key office bearers of the Student Union, the College Resident Associations and other student bodies.
Library services
The University Library houses extensive collections including Special Collections, Hong Kong Studies Collection, Arts and Humanities Collection, Business Collection, Engineering Collection, Science Collection, Social Sciences Collection, the Reference Collection, General Education Collection and Good Reads. Access to the Law Library is via the University Library.
ICT services
The Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC), at Pi Ch’iu Building, offers a variety of services to the academic, research and administrative communities of the University. Her service arm does not just stop at technical support and application project development, but stretches to almost all corners of the University.
Medical services
The University has a population of over 20,000. Protecting the physical and emotional health of all these individuals is a stupendous undertaking. While CUHK members can have their cold or sprained ankle treated at the campus clinics or at designated clinics off campus, the University also empowers them, through health promotion, to improve their own health.
Student Life
Campus life
Located in the northwest end of Sha Tin, 30 minutes by train from downtown Kowloon and 20 minutes to the Lo Wu border, the Chinese University is celebrated for the beauty of her campus.
The 137.3-hectare campus built on a hillside is the largest and the most stunning in Hong Kong. Most of this area is covered in greenery which is nicely carved out of rocks on three plateaux, and nestled among the greenery are tasteful buildings featuring a mix of Chinese and Western architectural styles.
The CUHK campus is a famous haven for many varieties of flora and fauna which great care has been taken to protect and enhance. It also commands panoramic views of the Tolo Harbour and mountain ranges nearby.
Sports facilities
Fun and fitness provide much needed balance to work and study.
CUHK and its Colleges offer a wide variety of sports facilities, including stadiums, gymnasia, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, weight training rooms and a Water Sports Centre.
