Services

Housing services

UA offers a variety of living options, including a traditional room style with shared facilities to apartment living with private baths. It also have many "living-learning communities," in which students with a shared academic interest live as a group and benefit from mentorship activities and faculty support.

Library services

Named for Civil-War era General Lucius Bierce, whose personal library constituted the first collection of the University Libraries, Bierce Library opened in its present four-story facility on Buchtel Common in 1973. Within this library are resources and services that support the humanities, fine and applied arts, social sciences, and business.

ICT services

Information Technology Services (ITS) is a catalyst for innovations and initiatives that make the University one of the top technology schools in Ohio and the nation.

Medical services

Located inside the Rec Center, Health Services is available Monday through Friday to provide students, faculty and staff with convenient medical care, including the treatment of minor injuries, provide health education, wellness promotion and risk reduction.

Student Life

Campus life

The University of Akron is a vibrant community within metropolitan Akron, with more than 80 buildings on 218 acres. Since 2000, we have added 22 buildings, completed 18 major additions, acquisitions and renovations, and created 34 acres of green space.

Sports facilities

The Student Recreation and Wellness Center is the hub of health and recreation on campus. The rec center, ranked #14 in the nation by Best College Reviews, includes a 53-foot climbing wall, a lazy river, a running track, weight room and more.

One of the benefits of attending UA is the opportunity to join other students who share your interests in one of our 300+ student organizations.

Accreditation

UA is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States.

In addition to university-wide accreditation, schools, departments and individual academic programs may earn accreditation.
