Housing services
- Unihome concept was originally established in 2010 to ease International visitor’s of two universities, University of Helsinki and Aalto University, accommodation. An Easy living concept was created in 5 different locations in Helsinki and Espoo, close to both universities’ campuses.
- As the concept turned out to be a success, we are now offering the rooms and flats for everybody in need of accommodation for a couple of nights or longer, but not long enough to sign a rental agreement.
Library services
You can find course and study literature at the University's modern campus libraries. The newest library is the award-winning Kaisa Library in the city centre. The materials and literature are available to you in virtual, mobile or traditional book form.
ICT services
The University of Helsinki offers extensive and modern IT services for the most common needs of the students, researchers, teachers, and other staff. In addition, researchers are offered a set of services designed to support research, the most important of which are saving and information sharing services, as well as customised IT solutions.

Campus life
- The multidisciplinary City Centre Campus in the very heart of Helsinki is the largest campus of the University of Helsinki.
- The Kumpula Campus, dedicated to research and teaching in the exact natural sciences, is perched on a verdant hill only four kilometres from the centre of Helsinki. This idyllic campus comprises the largest cluster of scientific competence in the Nordic countries.
- The multidisciplinary Viikki Campus is located in the geographical centre of Helsinki, and has served as a campus area since 1946.
- The Academic Medical Center Helsinki (AMCH), one of the best medical campuses in Europe, brings top research, teaching and medical care together every day.
Sports facilities
Make sure that life isn’t all about studies but remember to exercise as well. UniSport is an exercise centre for students with several locations where experiences are more important than performance.
They offer a wide variety of sports from body combat to pilates and floorball to hot yoga. With the affordable membership card (12/4/1 months) you can attend the group exercise classes and use their gyms and open ball game shifts on all campuses.
UniSport also offers diverse training courses in various sports, as well as personal training, massage and testing services. If you put together your own team, you can participate in the ball games series organised by UniSport.
Student clubs
The core of any university is their students, and the University of Helsinki is no different. All the students are members of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY), which gives them the possibility to choose between multiple student organisations to find one that suits their vision of ideal student life!
The Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY) is the largest and oldest student union in Finland and the roof organisation of all student activity at the University of Helsinki. All degree students are members of the Student Union.
The main purpose of the Student Union is to promote the interests of its 26 000 members both at the university and in society.
