Dedicated to learning, SUNY Geneseo is a residential public liberal arts college with selected professional and graduate programs. We combine a rigorous curriculum, transformational learning experiences, and a rich co-curricular life to create a dynamic and inclusive scholarly environment.

Student services

At SUNY Geneseo we have a dedicated International Student & Scholar Services staff focused on assisting students who are studying in the United States on an F-1 or J-1 visa. 

Our office services provide support to students through their entire SUNY Geneseo career and beyond. From the admission process, to new student orientation, to advising through graduation, we are here for you!  

Housing services

Exchange students must live on campus at Geneseo.  Accommodations are arranged by the SUNY Geneseo Study Abroad Office. 

Library services

Milne Library is named after Dr. William J. Milne, who was the first Principal of the Geneseo Normal School from 1871 to 1889, and his brother, Dr. John M. Milne, who was Principal from 1889 to 1903. Milne Library was completed and occupied in 1966. 

ICT services

The SUNY Geneseo wireless network is an enterprise solution composed of redundant centralized controllers and access points manufactured by Cisco. Nearly all wireless devices commercially available today are compatible with our wireless network.Wireless network access is a shared service which cannot be isolated to specific rooms or areas.

Medical services

SUNY participates in the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP). This program offers a PPO, known as the Empire Plan, and several different HMOs, varying by geographic region around the State. 

Student Life

Campus life

Over 3,000 Geneseo students live in on-campus housing, which makes for a vibrant and diverse community.

The Department of Residence Life at Geneseo has a large, dedicated staff comprising students and full-time university professionals, who work to ensure all students feel safe and supported in their living spaces.  They also put on many free programs and services for students to build community, help students meet each other, and ensure students have fun inside and outside their residence halls! 

Sports facilities

The SUNY Geneseo Workout Center hours of operation and classes offered are below.The Workout Center is open to:

  • SUNY Geneseo students with paid membership or a guest pass
  • SUNY Geneseo faculty and staff, their spouses and their adult (18-22 years of age) children with paid membership or a guest pass.

Student clubs

The Accounting Society is an organization in Geneseo that provides numerous networking and learning opportunities to our students by sponsoring or hosting specific professional and community events. Our main goal is to promote the professional and personal development of our members.Actuary Club brings students together who are interested in the Actuarial career to learn about the profession, get internships, practice interviewing, write resumes, and network with alums. 

Accreditation

NCATE is a coalition of more than thirty-three professional associations and as such is recognized as the professional accrediting body by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and by the United States Department of Education. Its dual mission is accountability and improvement in teacher preparation.
