Tampere University is one of the most multidisciplinary universities in _x000D_ Finland. Almost all internationally recognised fields of study are _x000D_ represented at our university. _x000D_ _x000D_ Tampere is an excellent city for studying and almost every fifth person _x000D_ living in Tampere is a student. According to several national surveys, _x000D_ Tampere is the most popular city to live and study in Finland.

Services

Student services

Tampere University organises a welcome week for all new international students at the beginning of each semester. The welcome week includes information on studies, practicalities related to the arrival in Finland, university services, and activities of the student union.

As an international student, you are also given a student tutor - a local student to guide you in the process of moving to a new country and university. Student tutors will be in touch with you already before your arrival and will help you with practical problems and ease your way into the university community.

Housing services

Finnish universities do not have on-campus dormitories. In larger cities, there are apartments rented for students by a housing foundation. Housing for students in Tampere is administrated by the Tampere Student Housing Foundation (TOAS). TOAS offers high-quality dorm rooms at a student-friendly price. The flats are mainly situated within a walking distance from the University campuses. 

Opiskelijan Tampere (Student's Tampere) is a non-profit organization providing INT Housing accommodation for students studying in Tampere during the autumn semester. 

Library services

Tampere University Library is an open academic library supporting with its services studying, teaching and research at Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences.

The library stocks a wide range of digital resources, including electronic journals, books and databases. The print collection comprise large volumes, mainly in the fields of science and technology.

ICT services

All Tampere University students receive an user account whcih will give access to the of the electronic services of Tampere University, e.g. Windows workstations, email and home directory, printing and copying, Moodle, wireless network at campuses and so on.

Medical services

Health care services for Bachelor’s and Master’s level degree students are provided by the Finnish Student Health Service, FSHS (in Finnish: Ylioppilaiden terveydenhoitosäätiö, YTHS). FSHS runs Health Centres in 13 university cities. To use these services, you must have a valid student card.

Campus life

Tampere is known for its active student life. Students are involved in many cultural events, they organise events and in general keep the wheels moving. There are close to 40,000 students in Tampere and they definitely make their presence felt! Tampere is an excellent city for studying and almost every fifth person living in Tampere is a student. According to several national surveys, Tampere is the most popular city to live and study in Finland.

Our Campuses provide services and flexible spaces in three different locations: City Centre, Kauppi and Hervanta. 

Sports facilities

SportUni offers access to diverse sports facilities, such as gyms, group exercise studios and indoor and outdoor courts on all three campuses. University maintains extensive and modern facilities for sport and exercise. In addition, there are popular student sports clubs that are a good way to meet like-minded students.

Student clubs

Tampere University has a very active student union. All Bachelor and Master level degree students are members of the Union and are entitled to a number of student benefits, for example discounts in the national and local public transport.

The Student Union is also active in the university, and students have a right defined by law to take part in the university governance. The student union also has various clubs and societies, which organise activities from student parties to board game nights and excursions to development aid.
