Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU)
Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) first opened its doors in 2000 thank to a collaboration between the Ritsumeikan Trust, Oita Prefecture and Beppu City.

Housing services
- Incoming international students are required to live on campus at AP House (APU’s on-campus housing) during their first year at APU. AP House allows you to adjust to your new surroundings and make friends from all around the world.
Medical services
Taking care of your health while you are away from home in a new country is very important. Beppu has an abundance of clean drinking water, fresh air, greenery, parks, sports facilities, gyms, and swimming pools, as well as hot springs, health clinics, and medical centers. In addition, as an APU student you will also have several healthcare services available to you on campus.

Campus life
- APU is located in Beppu, which is a mid-sized city and considerably less expensive. Many students also choose to do part-time work while studying to help cover expenses.
Sports facilities
- The facilities allow you to lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain your physical fitness while pursuing your studies. In our gymnasium, you can enjoy various indoor sports, such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and indoor football.
- Inside the fitness center, there are over ten different types of training machines, including treadmills, bikes, and free weights. Outdoor facilities include five tennis courts, two multipurpose sports fields, and a basketball court. These are available to students upon reservation.
Student clubs
- The 140+ student-led organizations of APU create countless opportunities for you to test your knowledge in a real-world setting, gain useful skills, make new discoveries, socialize and have fun with friends, and improve your physical fitness.
- With support from the Student Office, you can take initiative and start a new club for other students to join. APU has special scholarships available after enrollment for self-motivated students and organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership and dedication related to extracurricular activities.
