On August 1, 2008, National Dong Hwa University integrated with the then National Hualien University of Education marking a new milestone for the University. The synergy effect of integration expanded National Dong Hwa University’s academic disciplines and strengthened its research. Regarding the history of the University, it could be traced from the two campuses in Shoufeng and Meilun.

Library services

Located in the center of the campus with a turret rising high and shining like the beacon of knowledge, the Library of National Dong Hwa University (hereinafter referred to as the NDHU Library or the Library) is a six-story building with a total square measure of 18,150m2, and a huge collection of 2.37 million books (including e-books and databases) up to December 2011.  

ICT services

• Computer network in the campus has 5 Gbps band. Each office, classroom and dormitory is connected to computer network (10/100MB or 1GB speed).
• There are seven PC rooms located in the campus, total number of computers is around 400.

National Dong Hwa University's main campus is located 16 km south from Hualien city in Shoufeng Township. In all, the Shoufeng campus and surrounding grounds total to more than 251 hectares (650 acres), the largest flat land campus in Taiwan.

Nestled between the Coastal Mountain Range and the Central Mountain Range in the verdant and pristine Papaya Creek Delta, the University is situated in a spectacularly beautiful natural environment.
