NYCTCM has been approved by the New York State Education Department and was granted an absolute charter on November 9, 2001. On April 29, 2003, the Board of Regents authorized NYCTCM to confer the Bachelor of Professional Studies and Master of Science degrees. The professional Masters program in acupuncture and Masters program in Oriental Medicine of the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), which is the recognized accrediting agency for the approval of programs preparing acupuncture and Oriental medicine practitioners.
