For almost two centuries DTU, Technical University of Denmark, has been dedicated to fulfilling the vision of H.C. Ørsted—the father of electromagnetism—who founded the university in 1829 to develop and create value using the natural sciences and the technical sciences to benefit society.

Services

Student services

The SU Office offers guidance to all DTU students on SU rules, and processes applications for SU, SU loans, youth cards and study abroad scholarships. 

Housing services

DTU is renowned for its vibrant student life. You can join one of the many clubs and activities or attend the Friday bars and the many other social events and festive occasions at DTU.

DTU Lyngby Campus has several student canteens, a library, a bookstore, and unique student facilities such as DTU Skylab. As a student you also have access to Portalen and CampusNet, which will be an indispensable part of your studies.  

Library services

DTU Library in building 101 is a traditional university library as well as a digital library and the Technical Information Centre of Denmark.

The digital library, DTU Findit, gives you access to millions of scientific articles and online e-books. In addition to the more classical library services, including textbook and reference collection.

Medical services

 The Danish welfare system allows international students to receive free medical care during their study in Denmark.

Campus life

  • DTU's main campus in Lyngby, located 15 km north of Copenhagen.
  • DTU Ballerup Campus is home to many of our BEng students.Located 10 km west of Copenhagen.
  • Risø Campus is the site of much of DTU's ground-breaking research in energy technology.Located 40 km west of Copenhagen.
  • Some DTU departments have addresses outside the main campus areas.
  • DTU has research and test facilities throughout the country. Besides the facilities on the three campuses in Lyngby, Ballerup, and Risø the Universities has research and test facilities at the following locations: Charlottenlund Castle, Frederiksberg, Hirtshals, Lindholm, Mors, Silkeborg, Mørkhøj, Sisimiut, Høvsøre, Østerild

Sports facilities

DTU has a large selection of indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Indoors you can play soccer (football), Indiaca and badminton, dance, sing, attend yoga classes, sweat it out in the fitness centre or get in shape for your next skiing holiday.

Outdoors you can play soccer (football), rugby, basket or beach volleyball. You can also go sailing on Øresund or soar through the air in a hang glider. Check out your options on Sports at DTU.

Accreditation

DTU was granted an institutional accreditation by the Danish Accreditation Institution (member of ENQA). The institutional accreditation ensures that the quality assurance system of the institution is well-described, well-argued, and well-functioning in practice.
