Services

Student services

Ever since the Jesuits founded it in 1875, the French medium Saint-Joseph University (USJ) has fruitfully cooperated with others on the international scale. This international cooperation was fostered by the University’s adoption of the European System of Transferable Credits (ECTS) in 2003, for it allowed USJ to develop a wide network of partner universities across Europe, the United States, and the Arab world. This increased student and staff mobility, opening the doors for hundreds of foreign students to come study at USJ every year within the framework of bilateral agreements and other international exchange scholarship projects.

Housing services

USJ offers student dorms on Damascus Street (Beirut). It also provides students with a list prepared by the Department of Social Services that includes the names and addresses of student dorms close to their campuses. It should be noted that the Center for University Studies of Southern Lebanon provides housing for its students.

Library services

USJ has various libraries on its campuses and university centers, of which 6 are specialized:

  • Library of Social Sciences
  • Library of Literature and Humanities
  • Library of Medical Sciences
  • Library of Science and Technology
  • Library of the Campus of Sports and Innovation
  • Oriental Library

Student Life

Sports facilities

The USJ Sports Department was established in 2004. It consists of 2 divisions: Competitive Sports, which focuses on the training and follow-up of the sports teams that represent the University in local and international competitions, and Sports and Recreation, which focuses on sports activities for students, professors, and university staff of the different campuses and centers.

The University teams participate in local and international competitions in various countries of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

It is worth noting that the USJ Sports Department organizes the Beirut Unisports Festival, an event in which over 1500 students coming from various countries participate.

Student clubs

The Student life department’s mission is first and foremost to supervise and develop students’ activities. It also coordinates activities with other structures such as the University Pastoral, the Department of professional integration, and the Sports department.
