Overview & History

Founded in 1940 as a Teachers' Institute in Przhevalsk (modern-day Karakol), the university was restructured in 1953 into the Przhevalsk Pedagogical Institute. In 1992, it gained full independence and was renamed in honor of Kasym Tynystanov, a pioneering Kyrgyz linguist, poet, and education reformer who helped shape the Kyrgyz alphabet and literary tradition.

Location & Campus

Located at 103 Abdrahmanova Street, Karakol, Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyzstan, the university also operates a branch in Cholpon-Ata. It serves as the premier higher education institution in the region.

  • Erasmus+ Faculty Seminar: In November 2022, the university hosted a seminar on vocational education trends and labor market alignment for faculty and staff, reflecting its wider engagement with global education reforms.
