Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (TNPESU) is a unique affiliatory university established in 2004 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It is the first of its kind in India, dedicated solely to Physical Education and Sports. TNPESU began functioning in December 2005, coinciding with the United Nations' declaration of that year as the International Year for Sport and Physical Education. The university currently comprises three faculties, five departments, and ten affiliated colleges.
