The South Sudan Public Health Institute (SSPHI) is a government-established institution under the Ministry of Health. It serves as a central hub for public health activities in South Sudan, focusing on research, laboratory diagnosis, and emergency management.

Vision:

To be a center of excellence in public health research, laboratory diagnosis, and public health emergency management in the East Africa region.

Mission:

To improve the health of the people of South Sudan through early detection of public health threats, prompt response to health emergencies, and evidence-based policies and programs.

Overall Goal:

To serve as a center of excellence for supervision, control, and coordination of all matters relating to public health, including disease surveillance, laboratory systems and networks, emergency preparedness and response, workforce development, and public health research in the context of a one health approach.

Leadership:

The SSPHI is led by Dr. Angok Gordon Kuol, the Director, and Dr. Nyinypiu Tong Chol, the Technical Advisor.

The SSPHI collaborates with various organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CDC Africa, and IntraHealth.
