Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA)



Overview:

Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA) is an autonomous, non-profit R&D institution established in 1947 by textile mills in Ahmedabad. It focuses on all aspects of textile production, from fiber to finished fabrics, including traditional textiles and technical textiles like geo-textiles, nano-web technology, and composites. ATIRA is recognized as a Research Institution by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

ATIRA has several Centers of Excellence (CoE) focusing on specific areas:

    CoE Composites:

    Established in 2011, this center aims to help the industry adopt lightweight concepts in various sectors.

    CoE Geo-textiles:

    Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, this center serves major geo-textile manufacturers and is involved in developing geo-textile projects in the northeastern region.

    CoE Nanofibre:

    This center focuses on developing nano-web-based technology products, including face masks, fine filters for air and liquid filtration.

ATIRA also offers environmental engineering services, including environmental audits for industries.
