Rehabilitation Counseling Program

The Master of Science (MS) in Rehabilitation Counseling program is a 62 credit-hour CACREP accredited rehabilitation counseling program that generally takes a full-time student two years to complete. The coursework includes a combination of classroom, clinical study, personal counseling, and experiential activities. Completion of a rehabilitation counseling internship of 600 clock hours, supervised by a CRC, is also required.

About the Program

For graduation, students are required to take and pass the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam the semester prior to internship (must complete 75% of coursework to be eligible).

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Graduate School requires:

• a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university;
• two (2) professional letters of recommendation;
• transcripts showing baccalaureate degree and all other coursework completed at the college or university;
• a statement of intent, indicating reasons for seeking a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Admission to the Department of Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies at the graduate level requires an interview with the Program Director.

Cost & Financial Aid

The cost of completing the program is approximately $17,500. This includes tuition and fees. Financial assistance is available through the University's Office of Student Financial Aid in the form of student loans.

• A limited number of Graduate Assistantships are also available.
  • Assistantships start at $15.00 per hour and typically require 10 hours per week of effort. Students can also compete for the Louise O. Burevitch Scholarship and the Jennifer Elizabeth Lambeth Memorial Scholarship.
• These scholarships award single payments between $500-$1500.
• Applications are due each January and submitted through the ECUAWard system.
