Program Overview


Introduction to the Lodging Management Program

The lodging industry presents a worldwide career opportunity, with operations ranging from Bed and Breakfast Inns and entrepreneurship opportunities to positions with corporate giants like Marriott, Hilton, and InterContinental. Career opportunities exist on the corporate side and the franchise side of the business, from the front desk to sales, or back of the house in housekeeping and maintenance.


Program Overview

The BS in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Lodging Management is taught in a traditional face-to-face environment and via distance education.


Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must complete HMGT 1350 with a grade of C or better. Additionally, students must apply to East Carolina University.


Other Requirements

All Hospitality Leadership majors must complete an externship (after sophomore year) and an internship (prior to senior year).


  • Externship: Completed after the sophomore year
    • This provides students with practical experience in the field.
  • Internship: Completed prior to the senior year
