The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) program at East Carolina University has received the John R. A majority of the students in the program are full-time working professionals who are seeking to improve their work situation and overall way of life. The program offers online courses and laboratories, allowing students to complete their degree while continuing to work.

- The online industrial technology program had 745 declared major students taking courses online.
- 551 students took at least one course online and received a grade.
- The program has seen a 338% and 224% increase in student population since 2005.
- Students from all across the United States are enrolled in the program, including military members deployed in Afghanistan and other parts of the Middle East.

The BSIT program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering.
