Professional Portfolio Development

The university offers a module on Professional Portfolio Development, which aims to enable students to reflect on their past experience and identify future learning needs in the context of their own role and current health and social care policy.

Module Summary

The module provides a means of meeting the needs of students who require support in putting together a professional profile of evidence to gain accreditation for prior learning and/or advanced standing for previous study.

Learning Activities

Students are expected to attend all key lectures and contribute meaningfully to group work, case studies, and worked examples. They are also expected to support their learning by engaging in activities, additional reading, and support materials on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Assessment

Students will be assessed against level 6 or level 7 academic criteria on a portfolio of evidence, which includes:

• A reflective synopsis critically analyzing their role in health and social care and their current learning needs
• A report offering a critique of a current health policy
• A personal development plan outlining their future scheme of study
• An extended Curriculum Vitae

Entry Requirements

The module is designed for practitioners working with health and social care clients. For admission to the module, students will usually be required to provide evidence of the successful completion of 120 credits (or equivalent) at the appropriate level in a relevant area/discipline.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for the module is ｣1,000, which is equivalent to 20 credits. If you are employed by the NHS, your employer may have Continuing Professional Development (CPD) funding available for this module.
