Why study this course?
This is a course that has been running for more than 15 years. In the past, some participants who attended enrolled in Master's programs in conference interpreting. Others who were already working as interpreters in other fields improved their interpreting skills. And finally, some students outside of Europe continued their professional development in the field locally.
The hybrid participation offers an opportunity to experience remote simultaneous interpreting, face to face interpreting as well as a hybrid solution in multilingual events with interpretation. The state-of-the-art Interpreting Suite at London Met provides outstanding facilities and technology in the field which reflects the recent development in the industry.

This one week intensive course provides opportunities to practice consecutive and simultaneous interpreting on topics such as human rights, business, political issues and diplomacy. It is a practical course that offers a safe space to learn collaboratively. It will contribute to understanding the working environment, acquiring basic skills used in conference interpreting, practicing consecutive and simultaneous interpreting with authentic speeches and presentations. It will finally teach you to critically assess your own performance.
Assessment
Participants with full attendance will be provided with a Certificate of Attendance.
Course structure
The course offers memory enhancement exercises, public speaking opportunities, interpreting skill-based exercises and communication strategies in the morning. Afternoons are dedicated to practising in authentic settings.

Entry requirements
All languages are paired up with English that can be native or at C2 level. When English is a second level at C2 level, the other language must be native. We offer Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish (other languages may be added on demand).
What is the aptitude test?
Candidates need to send their curriculum vitae. The Course Leader will then communicate directly with the candidate and when necessary organise a call to further assess the level of languages.
