Program Overview
Cyber Security and Forensic Computing (Top-up) BSc (Hons)
The Cyber Security and Forensic Computing (Top-up) BSc (Hons) is a top-up version of the Cyber Security and Forensic Computing BSc degree. This course is designed for those who have a foundation degree, Higher National Diploma, or equivalent qualification, or those wishing to study the final year of their degree in London.

This inclusive course has a strong focus on cyber security and forensic investigation, expanding on the career-led BSc program. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in cyber security technology, leading to an undergraduate degree completion and entry into the professional world.

- Ethical Hacking (core, 15 credits)

Digital Investigation and E-Discovery
This module provides knowledge of how to detect and prevent digital crimes and cyber incidents at both law enforcement and corporate levels. Students are prepared for their career as professionals working in cyber security and digital investigation and e-discovery domains.
Ethical Hacking
This module develops understanding, knowledge, and skills associated with various malicious hacking attacks targeting computer systems and the appropriate safeguards needed to minimize such attacks.
Network and Cloud Security
This module aims to provide students with a critical understanding of security threats against network and cloud computing systems and the security measures designed to protect such systems.
Project
The module enables students to demonstrate their acquired knowledge and skills through a systematic and creative investigation of a project work in accordance with their course requirements.
Career Development Learning
This module enables students to undertake an appropriate short professional activity related to their course at level 6 with a business or community organization and gain credit for their achievements.
Project Analysis and Practice
The aim of this module is to explore how projects are analyzed, developed, and managed in a business setting and the types of project methodologies used.
Risk, Crisis and Security Management
This module focuses on various aspects of security management and deals mainly with risk assessment, risk management, and standards and procedures.
Entry Requirements
In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, students should have one of the following:
- 240 credits with at least a Merit from a Higher National Diploma (HND), at least 2:2 (or equivalent) from a Foundation Degree (FdA/FdSc), or equivalent international qualification in a relevant subject
- 240 credits at least 2:2 (or equivalent) from years 1 and 2 of an undergraduate degree (BA/BSc) in a relevant subject at a different institution
Accreditation of Prior Learning
Any university-level qualifications or relevant experience gained prior to starting university could count towards the course at London Met.
English Language Requirements
To study a degree at London Met, students must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. If a Student visa is required, students may need to provide the results of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS.
Assessment
Students will be assessed through essays, individual and group coursework, exams, research projects, and a final dissertation. Regular supportive feedback will be provided throughout the course.
Where This Course Can Take You
Students will complete this course ready to pursue a career in computer forensics and/or cyber security, or in the wider IT industry. Previous graduates have gone on to find employment as security/cyber analysts at companies such as MWR InfoSecurity, CACI, Cisco Systems, and LGC Group.
Important Information About This Course
If students study their undergraduate degree with London Met, as graduates, they will be entitled to a 20% discount on a postgraduate course if they continue their studies with London Met.
