Introduction to the Graphic Design BA (Hons) Program
The Graphic Design BA (Hons) program at London Metropolitan University is designed to inspire creative confidence and innovation in the discipline of graphic design. Module Details
Critical and Contextual Studies 1 (Visual Communication)
This module aims to orient and critically engage students in the history and theory of their discipline, examining its scope, conventions, and broader social and material context in culture and practice.
Message and Meaning
Students learn to navigate the creative process from concept to delivery of finished outcomes through a series of project briefs, applying technical skills and creative thinking to communicate a message authentically with their audience.
Skills and Principles
This module enables emerging graphic designers to explore and gain fundamental working knowledge of the core skills and principles of their subject, including introductions to craft and digital workshops.
Work Ready Level 4
Preparation for future professional practice starts here, with a focus on understanding the creative industries, situating individual creative practice within the wider context, and recognizing responsibilities as a creative practitioner.
Entry Requirements
- A minimum of grades BBC in three A levels, one of which is from a relevant subject in the arts, humanities, or social sciences (or a minimum of 112 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification)
- A portfolio review
Assessment
Students are assessed through project work, essays, individual practice, and a final portfolio project, including a dissertation. There are no examinations.

Graduates of the course will be able to interrogate, analyze, reflect upon the world around them, and find problems worth solving through engaging visual communication and innovative graphic design solutions.
