Program Overview


Photography - BA (Hons)

The Photography BA course is a practice-led program that enables students to develop their individual creative identity and learn the technical and professional knowledge and skills needed to apply that identity within a successful career in the creative industries.

The course is accredited by the Association of Photographers (AOP) and was awarded Photography Course of the Year in 2022, 2023, and 2024.


Course Structure

The course combines rigour with creative freedom and professional understanding, considering photography as an expanded medium ranging from clearly photographic analogue and digital practices to those that explore the boundaries where photography collides with other creative mediums to create new exciting hybrid works.


Modules

The course structure is modelled on practice within a healthy creative professional lifestyle, with each year made up of four modules that mirror this best practice in professional life. The modules include:


  • Critical and Contextual Studies
  • Looking and Making
  • Project Work
  • Techniques: Photography
  • Professional Practice
  • Major Project

Entry Requirements

In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, you should have:


  • A minimum of grades BBC in three A levels in art or design subjects (or a minimum of 112 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification)
  • GCSE English at grade C (grade 4) or above (or equivalent)
  • Portfolio interview

Accreditation of Prior Learning

Any university-level qualifications or relevant experience you gain prior to starting university could count towards your course at London Met.


Assessment

There are no exams on this course. Instead, you'll be assessed through practical and written coursework at the end of each year and throughout the course.
