Social Work BSc (Hons)

The Social Work BSc (Hons) course at London Metropolitan University is a professionally accredited program designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values required to begin a career as a social worker.

Course Overview

This course is approved by Social Work England and is the only social work program in the country fully validated by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH). It aims to equip students with the capabilities and skills needed to qualify and practice as a social worker.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the course, applicants must have:

• A minimum of grades BBB in A levels (or a minimum of 120 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification)
• GCSE English Language at grade C/grade 4 or above (or equivalent qualification)
• Relevant experience, which will be considered by the London Metropolitan University admissions team
• An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for the Child and Adult Workforce, registered with the DBS Update Service

Course Structure

The course consists of three years of study, with students completing two placements providing experience of statutory social work tasks. The modules include:

• Homelessness and Housing Policy
• Housing Issues and Housing Solutions

Assessment

Students will be assessed through essays, exams, oral presentations, group work, a portfolio, and two periods of assessed practice placements.

Professional Accreditation

The course is accredited by Social Work England, and upon successful completion, students will be qualified to register with Social Work England and practice as social workers.
