Program Overview


The Bennett University Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program is a two-year professional degree designed to train graduates in advanced IT tools, technologies, and applications. The program offers a solid foundation in core computing concepts and allows students to specialize in a chosen area through core and elective courses. The curriculum also includes internships, projects, and a capstone project to prepare students for the industry.

The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a two-year professional degree in computer science. The Bennett University MCA Program is designed to train graduates in advanced tools, technologies, and applications for the IT industry. The industry-oriented curriculum helps learners to understand various application tools and programming languages to develop better and faster applications.

Program Core Courses:

The Core Courses build a solid foundation for students to learn concepts such as data structures, algorithms, network systems, operating systems, software engineering and databases, essential for any computing professional. The specialisation comprises two Core Courses and three Elective Courses. It also has a specialisation-oriented Capstone Project and an Internship. Specialisations are chosen at the time of admissions.


Specialization Core Courses:

Students are offered two specialisation core courses.


Specialization Electives:

Students must choose three specialisation electives.


Electives:

General Elective: Students are offered one general elective. The purpose of the general elective is to give the students the flexibility to pick a course of interest apart from the specialisation. Open Electives: These courses are University-wide courses from different schools. Student can choose a course from any open elective list offered by any School of the University. Courses such as Mobile Journalism, Start-ups and Copyright Law are among the most popular ones on offer.


Honours:

An optional Honours is a pack of 4 courses that provides additional knowledge on the same or other specialisations. The Honours courses are offered in the 2nd and 3rd semesters. It brings an additional 12 credits to the students.


Projects:

To foster PBL, MCA Program consists of a project in each semester as given in the following table as


Internships:

Two internships are part of the curriculum. The first internship is available in the 3rd semester, which can be an alternative to the capstone project. The Capstone Design, and the Capstone Project are cutting edge courses to prepare the students for the industry. The second internship is done in the final semester. There is also one flexible option for the students to spend a year in an Industry internship during the final year of study. Internship options are available at many leading companies.


Skills:

Life Skills: A course on life skills is offered in the 1st semester to cultivate lifelong learning skills. Humanity: Students are offered humanity-based courses, which comprises 1 credit seminar, and 1 credit ethics course. Entrepreneurship: A course on entrepreneurship is offered to inculcate the necessary skills among students.
