Program Description

  • Creative and productive inquiry is the concept behind research work.
  • The academic program leading to the Ph.D. degree is broad-based.
  • It entails specified course work and credit requirements for different programs, publications, and research thesis.
  • The thesis would be the report of research work characterized by either the discovery of new facts or the new interpretation of known facts and theory, or an independent design and development, or the development of any new instrument or technology.
  • The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) of the Bennett University is conferred on a scholar who fulfills all the requirements specified in the Ph.D. Ordinances and Regulations.

Computer Science Engineering & Technology

  • Offers global exposure, academic integrity, and technological excellence to engineering researchers.
  • Scholars are required to take up intensive research work under the guidance of a supervisor on a specific problem for a minimum of three years.
  • They are also required to take up advanced level course work as required under the Ph.D. rules.
  • The research work is expected to result in new findings, contributing to the knowledge in the chosen field.
  • Doctoral research program gives an opportunity to scholars to show their analytical, innovative, and independent thinking, leading to creativity and application of knowledge.
  • Scholars are required to deliver seminars on their research progress regularly, and to publish their work.
  • Finally, they are required to submit the thesis embodying their research findings for the award of the Ph.D. degree.

Engineering, Technology and Applied Sciences

  • Offers Ph.D. programs in Engineering, Technology, and Applied Sciences.
  • The programs are available in the specializations of Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Biotechnology, and Mathematics.

  • On completion of the mandated stages of the program, and based on the final submission of thesis/valuation and Viva, the degree is conferred in Law or in Interdisciplinary work in Law based on the subject.

Times School of Media

  • Media research is an important part of media studies and Times School of Media would like its researchers and scholars to create a body of work that is relevant to today’s media.
  • The School is particularly keen to encourage and guide scholars who want to look beyond traditional qualitative and quantitative research.
  • The School would like its research scholars to come up with solutions that can be adopted by the industry.
  • Scholars will be guided in their pursuit by the School’s Faculty most of whom have been drawn from the industry.

School of Liberal Arts

  • Commencing Ph.D. programmes from 2022.
  • Ph.Ds will be offered in English literature, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Philosophy, and Political Science.
  • The main aim of the Ph.D. programme is to enable socially relevant research resulting in a better understanding of the prevailing circumstances.
  • Another attempt will be to undertake an experimental study, wherein, research can be an accompanying action.
  • Ph.D. from the School of Liberal Arts can be interdisciplinary.
  • The spirit of the school is to gain a holistic understanding of social sciences.
  • At the same time, strict theoretical rigour will be required for the pursuance of research.
  • Students will be regularly exposed to international and national seminars to learn myriad ways to approach a problem.
  • The school highly encourages students to undertake fieldwork for their research to remain in touch with the ground-level facts.

  • Selection will be based on Aggregate Graduation Percentage

Course Work PhD

  • In addition to the course work in the relevant subject area, the student shall also be required to register and pass compulsory course on Research Methodology which shall be minimum of 5 credits and could cover areas such as quantitative methods, computer applications, research ethics, communication skills and review of published research in relevant field, training, field work etc.
  • Minimum course credit requirement for Ph.D. shall be 10 credits (4 Res.
  • Methodology + 6 others aligned to research plan) for M.Tech. qualified candidates. The course work should be done preferably within one semester or maximum 2 semesters.
  • The credits requirements for students having M.Sc.
  • or equivalent qualification shall be 13 credits (4 Res. Methodology + 9 others aligned to research plan). The course work should be done preferably within one semester or maximum 2 semesters.
  • The minimum overall CGPA requirement in course work shall be 7.5 on a 10 point scale for student to be accepted as scholar for Ph.D.
  • Degree. If the CGPA of any student is below 7.00, at the end of any semester, his registration will be terminated with immediate effect. However, if his CGPA is 7.00 and above but less than 7.5, he may be asked to take more courses in order to enhance his CGPA to 7.5 or above, subject to the condition that this should be achieved within maximum duration allowed for the course work.
