About this Program
With a growing number of sport organizations embracing the powerful role that data analytics plays in understanding and prioritizing information to maintain a competitive advantage, there is an increasing demand for sport analytics professionals to guide data-driven decision-making.
Falk College offers a bachelor of science degree in Sport Analytics—the first undergraduate program of its kind in the country established within a professional sport management program—to provide you with a thorough understanding of the math, statistics, research methodology, sport economics, database management, finance, and computer programming integral to sport analytics.

Curriculum
In Sport Analytics, you’ll take a deep dive in analyzing data in sport while incorporating studies in arts and sciences with professional electives and liberal arts requirements. This will provide you with the math, computer, business, and communication skills to pursue careers in the sport industry. The degree also incorporates a mandatory foreign language requirement to prepare students for the global sport industry.
Coursework
Core coursework covers statistics, sport management, and economics. Sample courses include:

- R and Python for Sport Analytics
The sport analytics degree also includes a mandatory foreign language requirement to prepare students for the global sport industry. Students finish their degree requirements by writing a senior thesis.
Senior Thesis
As part of your degree requirements, you’ll complete a Senior Thesis to gain hands-on experience in the sport industry before graduating. The thesis encompasses a two-semester research project into the sport (or sports) of your choice.
The thesis centers on your original idea, and you’ll conduct background research, gather data, create models, run statistical relationships, visualize the relationships, and explain the results across a variety of formats. You’ll work one-on-one with a professor in the program to perform analytical research and analysis.

Network, Learn, and Compete Nationally
Begin building your personal portfolio of experiences and demonstrate your leadership through a wide variety of vibrant student-led organizations. The Baseball Sabermetrics and Basketball Analytics clubs conduct in-depth discussions and research, meet on a weekly basis during the academic year, and compete and present at national conferences. You can also join clubs in football, hockey, and soccer analytics; clubs focusing on sales, media, marketing, diversity, and sports gaming; Women in Sports and Events (WISE); and Sport Analytics Women (SAW).
Through our partnership with the Syracuse University Athletics Department, you can utilize real-world data to assist the coaching and performance staffs of Syracuse’s men’s and women’s athletic teams.

Sport Analytics majors most often go abroad to centers in Florence (Italy), London (U.K.), Madrid (Spain), and Strasbourg (France). Summer programs include Australia: Sport, History, and Culture; Sociological Perspectives of Sport (Madrid); and Olympic Odyssey (London, Paris, Lausanne, and Athens).

Scholarships
Berlin Sport Analytics Scholars
Berlin Scholars are students who have shown proven commitment to academic excellence, research, and experiential learning throughout their time as undergraduate students. Scholars will be assigned a project/assignment based upon an evaluation of their application materials and at the discretion of the Sport Analytics faculty.
Selection as a Berlin Scholar includes a stipend for the academic year. This award/scholarship is for senior Falk College Sport Analytics majors, and you should apply during the spring of your junior year.
