Overview

This MSc Psychology (Conversion) programme is designed for non-Psychology graduates who wish to undertake further training as a Psychologist. The course is aimed at those who do not wish to undertake a second undergraduate degree.

Course Description

This programme is designed to provide non-Psychology graduates with the necessary training to become a Psychologist. The course is a conversion programme, meaning it is not an MSc Psychology programme. Successful graduation will see students gain eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society (BPS), enabling further training and a career as a Psychologist.

  • Biological Psychology: This module takes a behavioural and endocrinological (hormonal) approach, investigating the ways in which hormones can influence specific behaviours.
  • Personality and Individual Differences: This module focuses on individual difference research, exploring the differences between individuals, groups, and populations.
  • Psychological Research Methods: This module introduces students to the foundations of research methods in psychology.
  • Social Psychology: This module introduces students to the history of social psychology, core theories, and research.
  • MSc Thesis: This module provides an opportunity for students to complete an original investigation within their chosen field of psychology.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum 2.2 Degree: A minimum 2.2 degree in a subject area other than Psychology.
  • GCSE Maths and English: GCSE Maths and English Language at grade 4/C or above, or an alternative level 2 qualification.
