BSc(Hons) Nursing (Children and Young People)
Overview
The BSc(Hons) Nursing (Children and Young People) course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue a career in children's and young people's nursing. The course has a strong practical focus, with approximately half of the study time spent on placements with established partners.

Learning and Teaching
The university's philosophy of nurse education encompasses flexible, progressive, and innovative approaches, ensuring students will be caring, competent, and critically thinking nurses. The course includes experiential learning, enquiry and action-based learning, group work, and face-to-face learning.
Study Time
The course includes attendance in classes and online directed learning. During the timetabled blocks of the course, students will study full-time, Monday to Friday, except bank holidays. Occasionally, this can include evenings and may finish at 21:00.
Assessment
Students will be continuously assessed on their clinical practice throughout the course. The university will also use a mixture of written assignments, case studies, Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), project/portfolio work, timed examinations, and presentations.

The university has excellent links with local employers, and placements are normally split between NHS roles and positions in private or voluntary sector organizations. Students will get a broad range of practice experiences, putting them in a strong position for future employment in either a community or hospital setting.

Registered nurses are in demand across the UK, and graduates enter careers in a variety of roles for the NHS, as well as private and voluntary sector employers, in community and hospital settings. Graduates can also combine clinical work with study on a post-qualifying course, specializing further in a specific area and progressing to more senior positions.
