Program Overview
MSci Optometry
The MSci Optometry program is a four-year undergraduate degree that provides students with in-depth academic and practical grounding in optometry. The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue a rewarding career in optometry.
About the Program
The program combines theory, extensive practical sessions, and placements to set students up for success. Students will benefit from real-world experience and patient contact from Year one onwards, gaining a variety of clinical experience in the optometry training suite and through external placements each year.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following requirements:
- GCSE: Grade B/5 or above in Mathematics and Grade C/4 or above in English Language or Literature, and Double Science or Physics, or equivalent.
- Tariff points: 136
- A-level subjects: Grades B and C from two of the following at A2: Mathematics, Use of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Human Biology, Applied Science or Psychology.
- EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: A minimum of a Distinction and a Merit overall in an Applied Science Extended Diploma.
- Access: 15 Level 3 credits at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit in at least 2 of the following subjects (15 credits in each): Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology and Psychology.
- Baccalaureate IB: A minimum of H5 and an H6 in two relevant subjects.
- Welsh Baccalaureate: We accept tariff points achieved from the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales in conjunction with other Level 3 qualifications.
- Cambridge Technical: You'll need a minimum of a Distinction and a Merit overall in an Applied Science Extended Diploma.
