The Low/Zero-Impact Buildings course focuses on the role of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in designing and operating comfortable buildings with significantly reduced or eliminated energy use. The program covers the following topics:
- Assessing low/zero-carbon and renewable technologies
- Applying BIM to evaluate buildings' environmental performance
- Exploring the impact of Part L, BREEAM, LEED, and EPC ratings on building sustainability

The program is delivered through five study days of face-to-face teaching, alongside recorded lectures, email discussion groups, virtual learning environments (VLEs), and other technology-aided learning methods.

- Critically evaluating the role of BIM in designing and operating low/zero-impact buildings
- Assessing low/zero-carbon and renewable technologies
- Applying BIM and low/zero carbon technology to evaluate building environmental performance

- Evaluating the impact of relevant building regulations and standards on low/zero-impact buildings
- Applying BIM and building environmental tools for lighting and thermal analysis
- Drawing conclusions on the developments of low/zero impact building on energy use, CO2 emissions, occupant comfort, light levels, and ventilation.
