Degree Overview:

This program is a 5-year, full-time MEng (Hons) degree designed for students who have the ability to study for a degree but lack the necessary formal qualifications to directly enter their chosen Honours degree program. It is specifically focused on delivering top-flight racing and engineering professionals.

Objectives:

• Develop skills in design and development processes through a combination of year-long modules, masterclasses, short courses, and race car building.
• Equip graduates to make effective contributions during their first career post and progress to the highest level as Chartered Engineers.
• Provide students with real engineering experiences and skills like presenting, time, and project management.

Outline:

Year 0 (Foundation Year):

• Design Studies for Engineers (ERC016): Provides a range of design knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to engineering studies.
• Analytical Studies for Engineers (ERC017): Equips students with basic analytical skills and knowledge needed for the course, emphasizing confidence and competence in solving real-world problems.
• Fundamentals of Engineering Practice (ERC018): Provides fundamental principles, practical skills, and hands-on experience relevant to the course, emphasizing confidence and competence in a practical working environment.
However, the program emphasizes industrially relevant subjects that can be applied in the workplace.

Year 5 (MEng Hons):

• Focus: The final year focuses on the analysis, decomposition, and synthesis of solutions to a variety of engineering problems and situations, placing students in the position of a professional engineer facing complex issues.
• Formula Student Team Project: This significant project involves designing and manufacturing almost the entire car in-house, providing students with practical experience in a real-world engineering challenge.
