The MSc in Web Science (Dual Degree) program equips graduates with expertise in web science concepts and methodologies. It offers a multidisciplinary approach with experienced faculty and dual certification from BUE and LSBU. Program Outline

Degree Overview:

The MSc in Web Science (Dual Degree) program aims to produce graduates with a high level of competency in understanding, applying, and enunciating modern concepts, principles, methods, and theories in web science. The program prepares graduates for multidisciplinary academic and applied research, meeting the needs of businesses and industries globally, particularly in Egypt, the Middle East, Europe, and beyond. The program boasts experienced faculty with diverse backgrounds in industry, academia, and research, recognized internationally and nationally. It offers a dual certificate: one from The British University in Egypt (BUE), validated by the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU), and another from London South Bank University (LSBU), validated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in the UK. The maximum time allowed for program completion is four academic years (eight semesters).

Outline:

The program is structured in two stages:

Modules (Semesters 1-3):

Students complete eight modules (24 credit hours in Egypt, equivalent to 120 credits in the UK). This includes four core modules and four optional modules.

Research Thesis (Semesters 4-8):

Upon successful completion of the modules (with a GPA of 2.7 or higher), students undertake a research thesis (12 credit hours in Egypt, equivalent to 60 credits in the UK). This stage requires at least one academic year of dedicated work. Thesis proposals are submitted during the first semester after finishing the modules.

Additional Requirements:

  • Students must register for 3 credit hours per semester for four consecutive semesters (totaling 12 credit hours), regardless of thesis proposal submission.
  • If the thesis is not submitted after completing 36 hours, students register for 1 credit hour per semester until submission.
  • The academic year begins in September, with Semester One starting in late September and Semester Two in February.

Teaching:

The program is taught by experienced faculty members with diverse backgrounds in industry, academia, and research, who are internationally and nationally recognized.

Other:

The program requires a minimum of two years of military service completion or exemption for Egyptian males, and a two-year valid visa for non-Egyptian students. The program's English proficiency requirement is a TOEFL score of at least 550 or an IELTS score of 6.5, potentially extendable until the end of the first year.
