Course modules

Year 1

  • Introduction to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship - Core This module introduces apprentices to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship programme, focusing on foundational skills for Level 7 study and an overview of business research.
  • Organisational Values - Core In this module, apprentices explore strategic management and value-based leadership within an organisational context.
  • Finance, Workforce, Planning and Procurement - Core This module provides apprentices with advanced insights into financial management, workforce planning, and procurement strategies.
  • Driving Change and Risk Management - Core This module covers key principles of change, innovation, and risk management within organisations.
  • Team Working and Development - Core Focusing on effective team management, this module supports apprentices in developing skills for fostering high-performance, collaborative cultures.

Year 2

  • Developing a Business Proposal - Core This module guides apprentices in creating a well-researched business proposal, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world organisational challenges.
  • Senior Leader Portfolio Development - Core This module requires apprentices to compile a portfolio of evidence showcasing their development across all knowledge, skills, and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standards.

Learning and teaching

  • Assessment methods: Reports, Presentations, Professional discussions, Assignments, Work-based projects
  • Programme delivery: A blended approach combining in-person teaching, online engagement activities, and digital teaching materials.
  • Learning and teaching strategy: Emphasises learning as a collaborative process, with a range of student-led and real-world activities.

Entry requirements

  • Qualifications: Hold a Level 2 qualification in English Language and Maths Grade 4/C or above
  • Employment: Be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant role and have the support of their employer
  • Residency: Live and have the right to work in England
  • Additional requirements: An undergraduate degree and 5-years’ experience in a management role (or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience)

Fees and finance

  • Cost of programme: £14,000
  • Funding: Fully funded by employer if wage bill is over £3 million each year; otherwise, 95% funded by government and 5% by employer.
