Philosophy of Mind and Mental Health
Course Overview
This 20-credit module explores the nature of mind and mental states, aiming to understand what makes certain mental states pathological. The course focuses on the mind-body problem, allowing students to comprehend approaches to psychopathology centered on the brain, including brain imaging and cognitive neuroscience.

Entry Requirements
As this is a Level 7 credit-bearing module, applicants are normally expected to have studied to Level 6. However, applicants with experience in mental health (either in a professional or service user role) who have not obtained a formal Level 6 qualification are also welcome. All applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Course Fees
£1,025 per 20 credit module.
Learning and Assessment
The module will be delivered through the university's online teaching and learning platform, Blackboard. Course material will be made available here, and weekly discussions will be facilitated through Blackboard and Teams. The module will be assessed by a 4,000-word essay on a topic chosen by the student.
