Overview

Our MSc Intelligent Maintenance Engineering degree will prepare you for a thriving career at the heart of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ as advancements in artificial intelligence and smart machinery transform the way we work forever.

Entry Requirements

  • Specific entry requirements for a MSc in Maintenance Engineering degree are: Entry can be made to the course through holding at least a lower second class award of BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, Material Sciences or other related subject.
  • Applications from individuals with non-standard qualifications or relevant work / life experience who can demonstrate the ability to cope with and benefit from Master-level studies are welcome. If you have not studied recently you may need to undertake a Top-Up degree Entry programme first.
  • Access qualifications should normally be in an Engineering subject or a related area.
  • Students whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate competence in the language. The normal minimum standard required is IELTS 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5.

Fees and Funding

  • UK: £9,450 per year (full-time), £2,625 for the placement year, £1,050 per 20 credits (part-time).
  • International: £17,900 per year (full-time).

Additional Costs

  • As part of your course there may be additional costs to consider that are not included in your tuition fees. Most of these will be optional, but some courses have essential additional costs.

Learning and Assessment

  • We adopt a range of approaches to help you learn and get the most out of the course. You’ll attend lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, exploring case studies and undertaking independent learning along the way.
  • We’ll assess you using a number of methods including exams, tutorial questions, online assessments, written reports, extended assignments and presentations.

Pathway Opportunities

  • There are opportunities to undertake a PhD after completing this course.

Further Information

  • This course covers both the technical and managerial aspects of intelligent maintenance engineering. It’s ideal for engineers who have recently graduated, as well as those with experience who are seeking to extend their knowledge or update their qualifications with a view to promotion and/or enhancing your skills in readiness for ‘Industry 4.0.’

Industrial Placement Opportunity

  • To enhance your work experience you will have an opportunity to undertake a professional placement as part of your MSc. This will extend your study time by three to nine months depending on the length of the placement. Alternatively, there are opportunities to choose an industry-based project.
  • You are responsible for finding your own placement. We will support you in preparation for this. We can help you plan and develop your CV and applications, and have practice interviews.
