Overview

This 6-year programme is designed for international students who aspire to become doctors but do not have the necessary qualifications to apply directly to the MBBS programme. The foundation year is taught at the National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine at the Westlakes Campus in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

International Entry Requirements

  • 128 UCAS tariff points unless stated
  • A2: ABB at A2 in at least two science subjects, including Chemistry
  • IB: 3 HL subjects, including Chemistry at grade H6, 1 other at H6, and 1 other science at no less than H5
  • Evidence of sustained academic achievement with a broad study of Science and Maths up to 16 and GCSE English Language
  • IELTS: 6.5 with no component lower than 6.0

Interview Selection

  • The interview stage will take place between January and June
  • Multi-station mini interviews (Multiple Mini Interviews or MMIs)

Progression to MBBS Year 1

  • Average percentage mark (APM): 75%
  • Minimum score of 70% in the biological and chemical systems module (XYC001)
  • Minimum of 70% in the body systems module (XYC002)
  • Minimum score of 60% in XY1006
  • Minimum score of 65% in EF1503
  • Minimum score of 65% in EF1337
