Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound

Overview

This short course is designed for health professionals, including emergency doctors, advanced clinical practitioners, nurses, paramedics, and physician associates. The course aims to provide practical skills in emergency medicine point of care ultrasound.

• Study Mode: Full-time over three consecutive days

Course Content

The course covers the principles of emergency medicine ultrasound, including:

• Focussed assessment for free fluid (FAFF)/Focussed assessment with sonography in trauma (FAST) – abdominal and thoracic
• Focussed assessment for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
• Echo in life support
• Ultrasound-guided IV access

Facilities

Students will learn using tissue-mimicking phantoms and mid to high-specification ultrasound equipment.

The course is taught by an expert team of sonographers and emergency physicians, including Angie Lloyd-Jones, Julie Burnage, and Dr. David Ferrero.
