Who is the course for?
Those interested in a qualification within the healthcare or health education arena. Most physiotherapists work alongside other health professionals and professionals allied to health. However, there is also an opportunity for those within the private sector, sport and charities to benefit. You'll need to be in suitable employment to complete this course.
What you'll do
- The course is accredited by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). Successful completion of this course means you can apply for full membership to the CSP.
- Learn from our experienced staff who are all Chartered Physiotherapists. Our team have a wide range of clinical and research skills.
- You’ll complete approximately 1,000 hours of assessed clinical practice in a range of clinical settings. This practice will be supported by the university and your employer.

Entry requirements
- Five GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English Language, Maths and one Science plus one of the following
- UCAS 128 points at A2 (ABB) including one Science, Biology/Human Biology is preferred however Psychology, Sociology and PE are acceptable
- General Studies is not included in points tariff
- BTEC National Diploma DDM in a relevant subject
- Irish Leaving Certificate AAABB including Biology
- Scottish Highers ABBBB including Biology
- International Baccalaureate 34 points
- If English is not your first language you will require International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 7 with no element below 6.5 in addition to the other entry requirements
- Applications from individuals with non-standard qualification, relevant work or life experience and who can demonstrate the ability to cope with and benefit from degree-level study are welcome. If you have not studied in the last three years you may need to undertake some study prior to application

Most of our graduates take up jobs within the NHS. While some work in private practice or sports and others choose to continue their study at postgraduate level.
Fees and funding
Tuition Fees are paid by an Apprenticeship Levy, so it’s free to you, although you won’t qualify for any funding from Student Finance.
Learning and End Point Assessment
The degree apprenticeship is delivered through a mixture of on campus, online and on-the-job learning.
Assessments focus on ensuring you meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours outlined in the Degree Apprenticeship Standard for Physiotherapists. As well as the HCPC Standards of Proficiency. We use a wide range of assessment methods including standard and innovative approaches to suit all learners.
You'll receive feedback in a timely manner, allowing you to feed this forward in your continued studies.
Information for employers
Apprentices do a real job while studying for a formal qualification, usually for one day a week at one of our campuses or training centres.
This course meets Apprenticeship Standards. Your apprentice will have the skills to succeed in their chosen career or progress to the next apprenticeship level.

Tuition Fees are paid by funding through the Employer and/or Government. This funding comes via the Apprenticeship Levy, meaning that you as the learner do not pay the standard tuition fee rates. Students on Degree Apprenticeships do not qualify for any funding from Student Finance.
