Emergency First Aid in the Workplace

Level 2 Award

This course is designed to meet the needs of staff intending to act as a First Aider at work, equipping individuals with the skills necessary to give effective life support, identify and treat injuries or illness, and maintain care and comfort of the casualty.

Course Overview

• The role of the first aider
• Contents of first aid kits (avoiding cross infection)
• Recording of incidents and accidents
• Assessing the situation in an emergency
• Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack and use of aspirin, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes

Administer first aid to a casualty who:

• is unconscious (including seizures)
• requires cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• is choking
• is wounded or bleeding
• is in shock
• has minor conditions - to include: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters

Administer first aid to a casualty with:

• injuries to bones, muscles, joints including suspected spinal injury
• sudden poisoning
• burns and scalds
• eye injuries
• anaphylactic shock and use of auto-injectors (Epipen)

Learning Environment

We provide a range of high quality cost effective First Aid and Health and Safety courses to a wide range of organisations across the North West. Courses can be delivered at our Preston campus or on site at your premises, which makes our already competitive training packages even more attractive by saving on travelling time and other costs.

Our trainers hold recognised teaching qualifications and have years of practical experience in a range of settings from sports and leisure, to childcare and industrial sectors. Course programmes are approved by the HSE and first aid training follows British and European Resuscitation Council protocols.
