Program Overview
Acute Cardiac Care
Level 6
Short Course
Our post-qualifying framework (PQF) allows health and social care practitioners to continue their professional development and achieve further qualifications in their field.
Course Overview
This module aims to enhance the practitioner’s knowledge and understanding of the care and management of patients at risk from or presenting with manifestations of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and abnormalities of cardiac conduction. It will review the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system which will inform the exploration of abnormal pathophysiology and electrophysiology. This will support the practitioner in critically analysing the assessment and management of patients presenting with symptoms of CHD in order to enhance and develop their own practice.
Learning Outcomes and Aims
- Explore and critically review cardiac physiology and control mechanisms.
- Critically discuss the presentation of angina and Acute Cardiac Syndromes
- Analyse cardiac dysrhythmias and the rationale for different treatment options.
