Overview
Our Veterinary Primary Care & Clinical Leadership MSc/PGDip is a part-time, accessible and engaging online course for veterinary primary care professionals.
Course Aims
- Build on your own experience and expertise in veterinary primary care environments to enhance skills and develop confidence in leadership, coaching, education and research.
- Encourage a collaborative learning space for colleagues in veterinary primary care settings to refine their reflective practice and develop lifelong learning skills.
- Inspire critical thinking and an evidence-based approach to leadership and clinical decision making and infiltrate a culture of learning into the veterinary workplace.

Entry Requirements
- British Honours Degree (2:2 class or above) in Veterinary Nursing, Veterinary Medicine or equivalent from an approved institution of higher education
- Non-standard applicants are welcomed. Recognition of Prior and Work-Based Learning in accordance with University regulations may be available
- Have sufficient competency in English language (IELTS Level 6.0 or equivalent)
Fees and Funding
- 2025/26: UK - Online part-time £1,050 per 20 credits
- Additional costs: As part of your course there may be additional costs to consider that are not included in your tuition fees. Most of these will be optional, but some courses have essential additional costs.

- The MSc/PGDip in Veterinary Primary Care and Clinical leadership is designed to support key, transferable skills. This will help you whether your goal is to progress in veterinary clinical practice or other areas of the veterinary industry.
- You will develop key leadership skills which will allow you to progress in many industry areas. You will study education, coaching and mentoring, which will enable you to support students, new graduates or junior colleagues in their careers. You will also study research skills, which will allow you to undertake and publish research in your role.
Pathway Opportunities
- The first year of this PGDip/MSc is the PGCert in Veterinary Education, Coaching and Leadership.
- You can choose to complete the full master's degree (MSc) or leave with a postgraduate diploma (PGDip) after two years. Prior postgraduate qualifications in a relevant subject area (up to 60 credits at Level 7) can also be credited towards a full MSc qualification. This allows you to build on prior learning to gain a master's degree.
