Course Description
Our BSc Software Engineering course will give you the skills you need to thrive in the digital revolution. Study a subject that's in high demand in industry.
You’ll get to explore the development lifecycle of a wide range of technologies. From mobile phones to enterprise applications, develop your skills through design, implementation and testing.
In Year 1 you will gain knowledge and practical experience of the latest technologies. You'll learn the fundamentals of software engineering.
You’ll develop interactive games using 3D graphics. Work as an Agile team to develop realistic applications, such as augmented reality apps. Develop skills around advanced programming and computational thinking.
By Year 3 you’ll be ready to tackle complex, concurrent systems involving many interactive components. You’ll get the chance to propose your own final year project that will showcase your best skills to potential employers.

What you'll do
- You’ll develop software development skills, combined with modelling, problem-solving and professional skills.
- Apply your software development skills to develop interactive games using 3D graphics.
- Learn to programme in Java, C++, and C#. Use database management systems, study communications and networks, and apply Agile project management skills.
Gain real work experience through industrial placements
You will have the opportunity to take a one-year industrial placement during your studies to increase your employability. Most placements are UK-based, but opportunities exist for global placements.

Entry requirements
- UCAS: 96-112 points at A2
- BTEC Extended Diploma: MMM-DMM
- BTEC Diploma: DD-DD
- Pass Access Course: 96-112 UCAS points
- International Baccalaureate Diploma: Pass including 96-112 points from Higher Level subjects
- T Level: P (C+) - M
- IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
- GCSEs: 5 at grade C/4 including Maths and English or equivalent
