Our Master's in Sustainable Management and Leadership offers an innovative approach to developing future leaders. Equip yourself with the skills and knowledge to create sustainable businesses and organizations.

Through hands-on learning, you'll gain practical insights into sustainability practices. This allows you to make meaningful contributions towards a more environmentally sustainable world.

This course offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that blends sustainability, management, and leadership principles. This allows you to gain a deeper understanding of how to lead and manage sustainable organizations.

The course offers hands-on experiential learning opportunities. You'll study and experience case studies, field trips, and opportunities for internships. These allow you to apply knowledge you've learned in real-world settings.

We place a strong emphasis on sustainability practices. You'll gain the skills and knowledge to create sustainable businesses and organizations.

• Research Project
  • You'll learn to be a proficient and analytical researcher in Business and Management through academic or practice-focused research. You'll be able to independently plan and conduct research projects, while comprehending the influence of such research on practice, organisations, policy, and your personal approach.

• Management, Leadership and Change
  • On this module you'll learn effective approaches to leadership, management and change. You'll develop critical awareness and analysis of leadership and management perspectives and theories. The module will introduce you to a range of theoretical perspectives to become knowledgeable appraisers. You'll learn relevant leadership and management strategies, and the distinction between the two.

• Futures: Leading Change
  • The aim of this module is to critically analyse global challenges and responses. You will analyse these challenges in the context of leadership and management. You'll evaluate the regional, local and global challenges in relation to sustainable development.

• Managing People
  • This module will draw from the CIPD Profession Map in terms of knowledge, principles, and behaviours, as these set out standards that shape excellence in people professionals. You'll be expected to develop holistically through engagement with appropriate CIPD resources relevant to their role and/or professional interest. Key topics include: People Management Practice with links to Performance and Productivity, Strategic Thinking with Connections to the Internal and External Environment , Line Management and The HR Profession.

  • In this module you will learn to understand and critically evaluate ethical, sustainable business practices in a dynamic global marketplace.

The MSc in Sustainable Management and Leadership prepares graduates for careers in sustainable business and leadership fields:

• Corporate Sustainability Manager: Responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies. This includes managing sustainability initiatives, setting goals, reporting on performance, and engaging stakeholders.
• Environmental Consultant: Providing advice and support to businesses and organizations on environmental sustainability. such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon emissions reduction.
• Social Entrepreneur: Creating and managing innovative and sustainable business models that address social and environmental issues, while generating profits.
• Sustainable Supply Chain Manager: Managing the environmental and social impacts of a company's supply chain. This includes managing supplier relationships, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with sustainability standards.

The MSc in Sustainable Management and Leadership provides graduates with the skills and knowledge to become leaders in the field of sustainable business, with diverse career opportunities available in both the public and private sectors.

Entry requirements

• Normally a 2:2 or equivalent will gain entry on to the program, if you do not meet this criteria but have equivalent experience please get in touch.
• Minimum qualifications:
  • Applicants would normally have a first degree at Honours Classification 2:2 or above in a related discipline
  • Candidates with professional qualifications and/or work experience are considered on a case by case basis and will be asked to attend a 45-minute interview to discuss their background and interest in the course
  • For students where English is not their first language, a score of at least 6.0 on IELTS or equivalent

Fees and funding

2025/26

• UK: Full-time £9,450 per year
• International: Full-time £17,900 per year

As part of your course there may be additional costs to consider that are not included in your tuition fees. Most of these will be optional, but some courses have essential additional costs.
