  • Royal College of Surgeons The centre is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons, a professional membership organisation and registered charity which exists to advance patient care. The Royal College of Surgeons of England, registered charity number .
  • Academy of Medical Educators (AOME) The MSc/PGDip/PGCert Medical Education and its modules are accredited by the Academy of Medical Educators. To qualify for full membership, three modules (including two from MB4105, MB4102, MB4104 & MB4123) will need to have been undertaken.

Entry requirements

  • Hold at least 2:2 degree in a medical, dental or other healthcare discipline or equivalent
  • Be actively engaged in medical or dental or healthcare practice
  • Have an IELTS score of at least 6.5 or equivalent

Learning and assessment

The course is delivered via online learning which includes live online teaching, seminar sessions, self-directed tasks and tutorial support.


The course will encourage analytical thinking, skills application and critical reflection of your own practice/experience, as well as developing independent learning skills. Emphasis will also be placed on using and sharing your experience with other students to aid the learning process and to facilitate increased understanding of how materials covered in modules may relate to other healthcare contexts. In this respect, some of the programme delivery will involve your active participation in collaborative activities/tasks and interaction with your peers. The varied experience of the learner group will be used to share knowledge and ideas and contextualise theory.


Assessment will be via oral presentation and written submissions.


Please note: The MSc Medical Education and its modules are accredited by the Academy of Medical Educators. To qualify for full membership, 3 modules (including 2 from MB4105, MB4102, MB4104 & MB4123) will need to have been undertaken i.e., a PGCert qualification.


Pathway opportunities

The module offers 20 credits towards the MSc/PGDip/Cert in Medical Education.
