Program Overview
Mini MBA
Short Course
You may be looking to study an MBA but would like to study two modules without committing to the full course. The Mini MBA is an ideal way to see if the entire course is something you would wish to pursue.
Course Overview
The two modules you will study are taken from the Part-time MBA course. This course will provide a rigorous and challenging postgraduate business and management education, where you will develop alongside other experienced managers and business professionals. It is a demanding 6 day block study course with assignments for delegates to complete after the tuition. Not only do the modules come with UCLan accreditation in their own right, but will help you develop into an effective manager or professional working in a business management context, this will also hopefully give you a taster of the full MBA courses available at UCLan.
Delivery and Duration
- Delivery: Campus
- Study Mode: Part time
- Duration: 6 days

Course Structure
There are two units studied in this course:
Management Environment - 10 credits
The overall theme of the module is ‘Think’ and aims to use constructive confrontation to challenge assumptions that are made within businesses and the economy. Concepts of micro and macroeconomics in the context of the business environment of management are introduced along with their application in the real world.
The module divides into two equal parts:
- The first is concerned with the micro environment of business.
- The second with the macro context.
Business Intelligence - 10 credits
In today’s world surrounded by information technology, vast amounts of data are created and stored each day. The data itself is not information, unless it is processed in a way that extracts particular insights and values that can be used in various ways. To do this, we need models and algorithms to collect, analyse, and evaluate data. This process of extracting information from the raw data is better known as data analysis.
This module seeks to teach students the fundamental concepts and techniques of data analysis while having an overall theme of Critical Statistics, in that such analysis when presented by others while able to inform and enlighten can also mislead and deceive.
